'Grant Hutchinson will be at the Stanley A. Milner library on Wednesday, May 28th at 7pm to give a talk on typography trends and tips. Veer held a similar presentation in Toronto recently and it was a huge success. Seating is limited so make sure you RSVP by Friday the 23rd. '

Got this E-mail from a casting director filming a documentary here in Edmonton, and thought I'd pass it along, it could be fun:

URGENT CASTING CALL FOR THIS SUNDAY MAY 11TH, 2008
I am still looking for 40 men (ages 18 - 65 yrs, Caucasian, short hair, beards and mustaches are fine) who will work on a documentary based on a 1908 car race. It will be this Sunday May 11th, 2008 - Call time is 7:30 am and plan to be on set for most of the day... The pay is $50 / person and we will supply full wardrobe...

What I need from you immediately is an email with your:

Contact information
Measurements: Neck; jacket size; waist; arm length; inseam; shoe size and hat size

And your commitment that you will show up at 7:30 am on set as agreed - we cannot have anyone that is half way committed because we are having to order in wardrobe for your specific size, so we need to know that you will not cancel out on us as it will be expensive for the production for people to not show and /or cancel...

If you, a friend, a family member, or even your soccer team are interested in coming out and having a blast in vintage costumes watching a 1908 vintage car race, than pls email me immediately with the above data...

HIGH WIRE FILMS- LOSING WILL

If you missed the December premier of Losing Will like I did, you'll be happy to know you can now view this full length film online. Losing Will has been accepted into the online portion of the Tribeca Film Festival and if it receives enough online votes it will be screened as part of the independent feature section of Tribeca Film Festival in NYC. Created by local improve troupe Young Guns, along with Mike Robertson, these Edmonton boys really proved what hard work can do. With most of the film shot using improvised lines, the characters develop in such a raw way that you can't help but become attached. Produced by High Wire Films, the cinematography is beautiful and flows perfectly with the musical score, also provided by many talented Edmontonians. I definitely recommend checking this film out and if you like it, VOTE!

SUGAR BOWL

Last week I had the pleasure of catching up with my great friend Julie. She and I met up at Sugar Bowl in the late afternoon. We split the mac n cheese and a caesar salad, I highly recommend it. Over a glass of fine German wine we laughed, shared stories, and reminisced. As we parted on the way to our cars, Julie snapped a few photos with her new camera.
